So I’ve been inspired to by one of my natural hair followers and decided to write an article on hair care.
Now, though my hair is currently perm - I was once natural too (oh how I miss my curls). Anyway this article is not only for natural hair, it’s for perm hair as well because we all have to take care of our hair as ladies - fellas I’m sure you can keep this in mind as well.
As a female (or male) with natural hair that is very curly, or wavy hair - anything other than straight you must always keep up the maintenance. You must always find out what is good for your hair as far as oils, conditioners, treatments etc. The best oils to use are Coconut, Cod-liver, Olive Oil or Argan Oil. Now you cannot just put oils in your hair and walk outside, you have to put something else in it to keep that moist look. So, try putting in leave in conditions and mix it with some frizz control if you have the type of hair that always gets frizzy. I normally use Argan Oil products which work magic for both natural and perm hair. For the night, depending on your hair, curly - I suggest Bantu Knots, wavy and other textures - braiding it in two pigtails or cornrows or French braids. It’s never easy keeping up with your natural hair because there is so much that you need to do and figure out on your own. I just gave you a few tips but to be honest you really have to go out and find what suits your hair best..
For perm hair there isn’t much to do when it comes to maintenance. Make sure you put a treatment in your every two weeks - the best ones are mayonnaise, carrot, argan oil and olive oil treatments. Just put it in your hair after a shampoo & condition -leave it under a shower cap for 45 minutes or under a dryer for 25 minutes. Then rinse out and style however I rather put rollers in my hair and air dry it - that’s when it comes out best. As far as, what’s the best perms to use, I highly recommend Olive Oil or Argan Oil. Now do not put a treatment the same day as your perm, I suggest doing it the next week or week after next. Also, every night wrap your hair - try rotating every night - meaning one night wrap your hair counter clockwise starting on your left and next night start on your right.
One major important rule when you have perm or natural hair do not flat iron it all the time - especially for natural hair because that can cause heat damage to the point your natural hair will no longer be in its natural state it will be forever straight until you do some total repairing which can take quite a while.
SO my junkies I sign out here, and urge you to do further research and experimenting!
